“Camphill Devon Community has recently been inspected by CQC (May 2022) and we are delighted that we have been recognised as ‘Good’ in the Caring and Responsive KLOEs (Key Lines of Enquiry). We are disappointed however, that due to a lack of evidence of documentation in some areas our overall rating is ‘Requires Improvement’.

We are wholly accepting of this outcome and fully acknowledge that there are areas of improvement required with certain aspects of our provision. Thankfully the inspectors also recognise the national staffing crisis, and the impact of managing the Covid pandemic within residential care homes, and appear understanding of the connection between this and areas of improvement identified.

We are of course committed to addressing these matters as a priority, and in fact some have already been resolved. We have created an Action Plan that reflects the feedback within the report and submitted this to CQC.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our team, who despite the challenges during the past two or so years, have coped so well with these increased demands, and remained loyal, hard-working and committed to provide excellent care and support to the people who live at Camphill Devon.

Steve Whittingham, CEO.”
